چکیده

Abstract. The reconstruction problem for the acoustic tomography with non-homogeneous background is discussed. We develop a method of beamlike solutions of a Helmholtz equation which is not sensitive to caustics. For small perturbations of the speed the inverse scattering problem is reduced to inversion of a ray integral transform. An explicit formula is given for beam-like solutions in a homogeneous medium.

Renormalized nonlinear sensitivity kernel and inverse thin-slab propagator in T-matrix formalism for wave-equation tomography

We derived the renormalized nonlinear sensitivity operator and the related inverse thin-slab propagator (ITSP) for nonlinear tomographic waveform inversion based on the theory of nonlinear partial derivative operator and its De Wolf approximation. The inverse propagator is based on a renormalization procedure to the forward and inverse transition matrix scattering series. The ITSP eliminates th...

Inverse problem in optical diffusion tomography. IV. Nonlinear inversion formulas.

We continue our study of the inverse scattering problem for diffuse light. In contrast to our earlier work, in which we considered the linear inverse problem, we now consider the nonlinear problem. We obtain a solution to this problem in the form of a functional series expansion. The first term in this expansion is the pseudoinverse of the linearized forward-scattering operator and leads to the...

Convergence and Stability of the Inverse Scattering Series for Diffuse Waves

The inverse scattering problem (ISP) for diffuse waves consists of recovering the spatiallyvarying absorption of the interior of a bounded domain from measurements taken on its boundary. The problem has been widely studied in the context of optical tomography—an emerging biomedical imaging modality which uses near-infrared light as a probe of tissue structure and function [1, 17]. More generall...

Ultrasound Tomography in Circular Measurement Configuration using Nonlinear Reconstruction Method

Abstract— Ultrasound tomography offers the potential for detecting of very small tumors whose sizes are smaller than the wavelength of the incident pressure wave without ionizing radiation. Based on inverse scattering technique, this imaging modality uses some material properties such as sound contrast and attenuation in order to detect small objects. One of the most commonly used methods in ul...

ON EXISTENCE AND UNIQUENESS OF THE FORWARD AND INVERSE PROBLEM IN REFRACTIVE INDEX BASED OPTICAL TOMOGRAPHY By

In optical tomography, conventionally the diffusion approximation (DA) to the radiative transport equation (RTE) with a constant refractive index is used. The existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness of the forward and the inverse problem using conventional DA has been studied in the past. In this report, we investigate the existence, uniqueness, and non-uniqueness of optical tomography forwar...
